Professional Make Up – Local or Overseas Cert?

If  you are interested in learning professional make up in Malaysia, and wondering what is the difference between local and international cert, this article will enlighten you.  Normally the current local certs recognized by government of Malaysia today is SLDN (Jabatan Kemahiran Kemahiran) and overseas cert are from branded cosmetic certs. There is nothing wrong with international certs but do understand there is no formal government agencies that endorsed these certs. So if you are seeking for local job using these international make up certs,  it is up to the employer to evaluate your skills.

Local certs however, are recognized in Malaysia. Do take note there are not many opportunities offered by local government in terms of beauty line but you can apply government grant when available and also in the future if there is a law stating that all beauticians must registered under government, you are secured.  Currently there are 3 levels of certs for beauticians, level 1, 2 and 3. The highest level will be level 3 where you can have the authority to open any beauty academy in Malaysia in the future once the laws are applicable.  Most established make up academies in Malaysia also will accept SLDN as a standard in the make up industry as you need to spend easily 100 hours and prepare your portfolio for workplace.

Do not be deceived that overseas certs are more valuable or expensive, this is not the case in Malaysia. With Arissa Studios, we inform the students and teach them well to be equipped even if they wish to further the studies in overseas for a degree in cosmetics. If you are interested in learning make up, I would advice you in looking at the syllabus and getting the most for your investment instead of the certs offered. Check out the quality of your make up coach and make sure they are using the latest techniques while teaching you make up and not a syllabus done years ago.

Basically, we offer free consultation and scholarship to deserving students. If you are interested in learning professional make up, do give us a call at 012 3230881 (cath) or call Bonie at 0168802003 (Sabah)
